William Gillet Ritch was territorial secretary of New Mexico from 1873 to 1885 and author of several books about New Mexico history. Ritch also served as acting territorial governor of New Mexico in 1875. He developed an interest in the history of New Mexico and collected historical documents in hopes of circumventing their destruction or dispersal. Ezekial Thatcher was clerk of the Parkville School District, Shasta County, Calif. He emigrated to California from Pennsylvania in 1850 and helped establish the first school district in the Parkville area. He is descended from the Thatchers of Uffington, England, the same family as Denis Thatcher, husband of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. From the description of H.H.
